At Samajik Seva Sadan (SSS), we believe that healthy natural resources are the foundation of sustainable livelihoods and resilient communities. Through a community-led and integrated watershed management approach, we work to conserve, restore and sustainably manage land, water and forest resources in rural and tribal areas.
Our interventions focus on improving water availability, enhancing soil health and strengthening climate resilience through the development of sustainable natural resource assets. These include the construction of dug wells, percolation tanks, water harvesting structures, farm ponds, lift irrigation systems, field bunds, stone bunds, gabions, gully plugs and earthen nala bunds. Together, these measures help reduce soil erosion, increase groundwater recharge, improve soil moisture retention and expand irrigation opportunities for small and marginal farmers.
Beyond infrastructure development, SSS facilitates participatory planning and empowers communities to take ownership of natural resource management. By strengthening local institutions and promoting collective action, we ensure the long-term maintenance and sustainable use of these assets.
